Ideia de Jardim, de construção de uma nova planta, de um novo mapa. É assim que os meus trabalhos surgem nesta exposição, recorrendo ao desenho e à instalação site-specific.

 

Com as instalações pretendo alterar o espaço, dar-lhe uma nova forma, uma nova presença neste lugar tão marcado por passagens anteriores. Existe nestas estruturas, uma espécie de humildade que se delineia luminosamente no espaço como se fosse um simples esboço da sua própria forma.

 

O desenho surge ora como um complemento à instalação enfatizando-a, ora como trabalho isolado.

 

No primeiro momento, os desenhos actuam como uma sombra projectada da estrutura geométrica por mim criada naquele espaço. Esta é uma estrutura “aberta” composta por formas geométricas piramidais que se assemelham à marcação do batimento cardíaco num electrocardiograma. Nesta peça é patente o jogo subtil entre o clínico e o arquitectónico, entre o branco e a agudeza das formas pontiagudas. Estas assumem precisamente o jogo entre o espaço e a limitação da visualidade que lhe está associada, ao transpor para o âmbito da escultura o anverso de uma estratégia própria dos suportes bidimensionais.

 

No segundo momento, os desenhos marcam a ideia de mapeamento. Uma nova pele surge neste mapa do corpo. Entre a minúcia destes desenhos a grafite e a lhanura da forma, o encontro dá-se numa organicidade oculta por detrás do traçado que as estrutura e que estabelece um núcleo de coerência relativamente aos anteriores trabalhos baseados na desconstrução digital de imagens de órgãos humanos.

 

 “De certo modo, os desenhos são como posicionamentos sem local real que mantêm uma relação de analogia com o espaço real. Seriam como um contraponto à inversa, um reverso, embora sempre irreal, ou melhor, virtual, de virtus (do latím), apenas existente em potência e nunca em facto.”[1]

The idea of “Garden”, building a new plan, a new map. This is how my work appears in this exhibition, using the drawing and site-specific installation.

With the installation pieces i intend to change the space, give it a new shape, a new presence in this place so marked by previous passages. There is in these structures, a kind of humility that emerges brightly in space as if it were a simple sketch of their own form.

The drawings appear sometimes as a complement to the emphasis of the installation, or as isolated work.

At first, the drawings act as a shadow of the geometrical structure created by me in that space. This is a "open" structure composed by pyramidal shapes that resemble the markings of the heartbeat on an electrocardiogram. In this piece its patent the subtle interplay between the clinical and architectural, between the white and sharp wit of the forms. These come in precisely as the interplay between space and the visual limitation associated with it, as it transposes into the realm of sculpture the opposite of the strategy of two-dimensional media.

 

In the second stage, the drawings mark the idea of mapping. A new skin appears on this map of the body. Between the detailed drawings of graphite and the way these plains form, the encounter comes as an organic shape hidden behind their structure and establishes a core of consistency with the previous works based on the deconstruction of digital images of human organs.

 

"In a way, the drawings are like positionings without real local that maintain a relationship of analogy with the real space. Would be like a counterpoint to the reverse, a reverse, but always unreal, or rather virtual, Virtus (Latin), existing only in power and never in fact."[1]
